Role Database Specialist Job Purpose To analyze, design, implement and review the database systems based on business requirements to ensure cost-effective and resilient delivery of IT services to the customers. Key Accountability Areas - Administration, maintenance of database health, patch-management, capacity planning, performance tuning, accounts administration, upgrades to ensure optimal and effective hosting of IT services to the customers.
- Develop and document standard operating procedures for database maintenance and monitoring to provide the technical support team the ability to help provide 24x7 high system availability
- Measure and establish the end to end performance baseline in aspect of database/application servers, storage and network to identify performance bottlenecks, errors logging and trend analysis.
- Plan, design, architect and research on database technologies and prepare proposal to utilize it to assist in business growth.
- Plan and implement the backup and recovery procedures to ensure secure and reliable data protection.
Other Duties & Responsibilities - Analyse and lead the process of problem management by diagnosing the occurrence of server infrastructure and then rectify the underlying problems, so as to prevent them in the future, which adversely affect the business process, workflow and user productivity.
- Provide 3rd level support to other operations/support team.
Qualifications (A) Education - Diploma or Degree
- Database professional certificates like OCP and MCDBA highly desired.
(B) Experience - Minimum 5 years experience in Database Administrator position, preferably in banking/financial or ISP industry
- Experience in managing huge and high volume databases
- Experience in design and administration of high availability database systems.
- Experience in database design
(C) Knowledge - Knowledge in disaster recovery plan and business continuity plan.
(D) Skills - Expert in design and administration of MSSQL databases is a must
- Expert in design and administration of Oracle databases will be advantage
- Expert in Application / System end to end performance monitoring
